Summary

CMAC Roofing has compiled a list of the 6 most common mistakes and frustrations from customers who have had a bad experience with other roofers. It is our goal at CMAC Roofing to make roof replacements in Texas easy, affordable, and painless.

PRICE
While it’s tempting to go with the lowest estimate, it’s also important to understand why that might be. Does the estimate include all scopes of the project? Are the quality of the shingles in line with your other estimates? Is the cheapest roofer properly licensed and insured? Sadly many Texas homeowners will get burned by making their decision based solely on price. There is always a reason why someone is cheaper. The questions is, when do you want to find out why? The answer should be, before you hire.

QUALITY
Not all shingles are created equal. That is worth repeating…NOT ALL SHINGLES ARE CREATED EQUAL. Most people understand this logic when shopping other products. There is definitely a place in the consumer markets for inexpensive and cheap goods but your roof should not be one of them! Many homeowners solely rely on roofing contractors to educate them on shingle quality but you shouldn’t stop learning there. Take your research online to verify the quality of shingles you are buying and the quality of roofer you are hiring.

EXPERIENCE
So the roofer you’re considering has a cool logo and shiny business cards but is that all they have? Be sure to hire a roofer who has experience. You should ask “How long have you been in business?” or “How many roofs have you replaced in our neighborhood?”. Roof replacements can come with their fair share of unexpected problems. You’ll want your roofer to have the experience how to successfully resolve unforeseen issues and not just cover them up. There are just some things that you can’t learn from only reading the instructions. CMAC Roofing has over 30 years of combined experience between our owners alone!

WARRANTIES
No one likes to read the fine print but a good roofer will be able to back up his or her warranty claims in writing. You should always ask “Where does it say that in the warranty?”. Just like shingle quality, not all roof warranties are created equal. For example: Certain major shingle manufactures back their shingles against high winds but at the same time do not cover claims made from unordinary weather. See what they did there? Unfortunately the only time we experience high winds is during unordinary weather!

SCHEDULING
Rain delays are not unusual for roofers. But not all roofers handle rain delays the same way. We here at CMAC Roofing believe that our customer should not lose their place in line due to bad weather. In other words, if your roof replacement is scheduled for Monday and it also unexpectedly rains on Monday, your installation will be rescheduled for Tuesday. Tuesday’s job will be postponed until Wednesday, and so on and so forth. You won’t lose your place in line for shingle installation day. CMAC Roofing will take advantage of working weekends to get the schedule caught up for the following week too.

ACCOUNTABILITY
We’ve all been there. Isn’t it so frustrating, when a problem arrises, only to be juggled between various “departments” to hopefully get an answer? But what happens when one representative tells you something different from another representative? Have you ever switched cable providers and received your first bill that didn’t match up with what the person who signed you up claimed it would? Not all salespeople are bad but not all of them are good either! When you hire a roofer be sure you know who you are dealing with. All of our customers at CMAC Roofing will always have direct access to our owners, if needed. From the day of the estimate, to contract acceptance, to installation day, and finally to billing, all interactions and accountability will take place with a qualified and trained salesperson.
